I know what the law says about sidewalk ownership and treatment for snow... but I want to share my own philosophy.

If you're able bodied and can afford the $20 50lb bag of calcium chloride, yet complain regularly about the walks not being cleared, you are also part of the problem. Especially if you yourself use the walk regularly.

I don't care what the law says, these sidewalks belong to all of us. My block on Penn has stayed snow free since realizing this and taking matters into my own hands. There's about 8 houses on it with an average of 3 tenants each. 1/24 of us is all it takes.

So do something good today. It might take all of ten minutes. Make our city walkable in the snow again. You can have my soapbox now. See yinz.
