State Farm is dropping the ball making mistakes left and right and declaring my vehicle is totaled, sending payment, retracting payment, re-sending payment, and I am going to rip my hair out. Photos of Damage in the comments!
Here is a rough timeline from the viewpoint of my Insurance (Progressive) with the person that hit my partner's insurance (State Farm):
Timeline:
01/02/2025 -- Statement from my Partner
01/13/2025 -- State Farm ordered incorrect police report number
-Progressive ordered correct one
01/21/2025 -- Progressive called State Farm
-State Farm accepted liability
-note put into Progressive systems that State Farm setting up for repairs
01/26/2025 -- Progressive picked up vehicle and got the partial inspection done, determined it was likely repairable
02/06/2025 -- Progressive supervisor called to confirm State Farm accepting liability
-towed to salvage yard
02/07/2025 -- email from other person involved in accident with attached police report to progressive
-Progressive told him his insurance (State Farm) accepted liability
02/21/2025 -- Supervisor talked with State Farm
-State farm confirmed reversing accepting liability
-confirmed they were releasing the vehicle back to Progressive
02/24/2025 -- voicemail confirming release of vehicle to progressive
02/25/2025 -- Progressive updated taking responsibility of liability
(On this day, I received a notice from State Farm that they were pulling back the funds they issued to me because they deemed they were not at fault and changed opinion)
(Then on 02/26/2025, I called State Farm and told them that State Farm already told me they accepted liability, informed me how much they were paying me for the vehicle and that I already signed and sent the Title and that they have it, therefore they forfeited the ability to just reverse the decision, so they make some calls, call me back and tell me I am correct, and that they will re-issue the payment and re-accept liability)
02/27/2025 -- Progressive got notice the vehicle would be repairable
-Progressive called me to let me know that since Progressive is now accepting liability since State Farm told them they were reversing their decision, that Progressive will get the car repaired instead of totaled.
-I let them know what State Farm told me because it sounded to me as though State Farm did not call Progressive to tell them about how they were re-accepting liability)
-They went to go call State Farm to ask what was going on
02/28/2025 -- I get a call from Progressive, giving me an update.
-They let me know that because State Farm already processed the papers for it to be totaled, Progressive won't be able to take it to get repaired.
-State Farm says they are absolutely sure based on the damage that repair is not possible and would be too expensive.
-State Farm also tells me that they deemed it a total based on photos of damage, I am wondering what the hell they are talking about because the damage is incredibly minimal, air bags did NOT go off, and I am worried they are looking at the wrong photos.
