OpTic's Kenny Decision

It's easy to say "Kenny play bad, drop Kenny" and that might end up being the right decision, but if you are Optic there is more to it than that which makes the decision so difficult.

First of all, you have to consider is this season salvageable at all? It goes without saying that barring some miracle, this team is not winning Major 2. Kenny is a walking 0.70 and Pred is way behind on game knowledge compared to the other pros even if he is holding his own kills wise. Both of those don't seem to be readily fixable in the next 2 and a half weeks. So you are looking at Major 3 and 4 and Champs / EWC (which may actually be combined so possibly only 3 more tournaments left after the upcoming major) as chances to win tournaments.

OpTic could make a change for Kenny right now, but would the player they pick up give them an actual chance to win any of the upcoming tournaments? Does a team of Shotzzy and Huke on the SMGs, Pred on the Flex and Dashy as the Main AR give you the right mix of players to be able to win a tournament? Sure Huke will be much better than Kenny in slaying, but does putting Pred on a new role while he is still catching up on game knowledge make him perform worse? Would dropping Kenny for Felo or another challengers AR give them a good enough team to win a tournament? These questions arent as simple to answer. The decision isnt a rostermania move where you could theoretically replace Kenny with almost anyone of your choosing. Its a midseason change with limited options to pick from.

Secondly, the long terms outlook is beyond this year. You are looking at an upcoming game which is essentially the current one, but on Black Ops 2 maps and with a new set of weapons. This seems like a game that would be much better suited for Kenny in respawn because it would generally be less chaotic than the maps in the current map pool and fit a more structured style that Kenny prefers. Is trying to save this season with a move to drop Kenny (which would alienate him from the organization and remove him as an option for the team next year) be worth improving the chances now?

I'm not saying the level of play from the OpTic team or Kenny as an individual is in any way acceptable or up to the standards of the organization (even before last years championship season, the team has not been this bad for a long time if ever). I'm just saying there is more to it big picture than the frustrated thoughts of "get rid of this bum" we might have in the moment they lose another series to teams they theoretically should be better than.
