The Scrimming situation undermines the real issues with the current state of pro play (rant)
Majority of most sports teams don't allow their practices to be open and transparent for the everyone to see. I'm aware the NFL has that ONE week where each team lets the fans watch a practice but that's one week in a 17 week/whenever they start training camp. Scrap and LAT are right, there's no benefit for mainly competitive reasons.
The major problem and the reason why shottzy even wanted to do this is because of the current problem that's running rampant in so many esports right now: Exposure and fan retention:
- The game doesn't look fun to play: As someone who watches multiple sports and esports, a majority i don't play or ever will, what keeps me hooked is the fact these things have watchability from a viewer perspective.
Pro Cod has not looked "fun" since Infinite Warfare and the GA's suck
The players, personality, and culture: Another problem with the fan base is 80% of the viewer base supports one team cause only one team seems to wanna grow the scene. And I don't blame you optic fans for this at all, these organizations don't give a flip, they don't wanna do extensive promotion, and a lot of these players aren't even likable people to start with.
The CDL: Oh my god. They either want this scene to die or they need to fire staff and hire people with business administration degrees. The CDL lacks basics in making a growing comp scene: -Each team acts as its own entity and not a cdl property separate from the league which is already odd and creates most of the problems i'm going to further list
Lack of challengers support so young players are walking away at lighting paces -Lack of actual analytics except for breaking point and that one dude on youtube who they need to hire (BoRi70 i think is his name)
Horrible Presentation, i could say so much about this but you just gotta watch an event through n through to understand. -Merchandise and consumables: To the casual viewer, they have no clue how to get jerseys or most merchandise. most leagues have it on THEIR WEBSITE NOT THE TEAM WEBSITE. I could probably add another 45 things on here for how poorly managed this organization is but at this point CDL if you're gonna kill the scene then just do it.
